What is the Mompreneur Mindset?

The Mompreneur Mindset is the ability to balance motherhood and entrepreneurship while maintaining a positive and confident attitude. It requires a strong sense of self-awareness, resilience, and determination to succeed. As a mompreneur, you must be willing to take risks, learn from failure, and keep moving forward.

Moment of Transparency

A few years ago, I had the opportunity to work with a confidence coach by the name of Tina Moore.

At the time, I did not see the value of working on my confidence because, on the surface, all things appeared as they should. As the ever-ready resident extrovert, always smiling, and forever the optimist, I thought my confidence was fine. Until I was challenged to sit with myself and think about all of the things that I was not accomplishing because of what I told myself internally. Pause.

The reality is, I had a million business ideas and the tools to implement them, but I did not put myself out there. I was constantly worried about how I would show up in the marketplace in comparison to the next entrepreneur. I worried about how my life's story would negatively affect my ability to show up professionally.

My imposter syndrome was a monster of my own making. It was at that point that I realized: I do not suffer from confidence issues because of anything external. My confidence was slowly being damaged by the tiny voice in my head. A voice that was overly critical of my every action. A voice that told me things that I would never utter to another individual... but said to myself daily on repeat.

Personally, I had to learn how to replace that voice with scripture and the voices of the mentors and coaches that I follow and invest my time learning from. It was time for a mindset shift.

Cultivating Confidence

Confidence is a key factor in any successful entrepreneurial venture. When you believe in yourself and your abilities, you are more likely to take risks, make bold decisions, and overcome challenges. Here are some ways to cultivate confidence as a mompreneur:

  1. Believe in Yourself: The first step in cultivating confidence is to believe in yourself. Trust your instincts and know that you have the skills and abilities to succeed. You are capable of achieving anything you set your mind to.

  2. Surround Yourself with Positive People: Surround yourself with people who believe in you and support your goals. Avoid negative people who bring you down and make you doubt yourself.

  3. Celebrate Small Wins: Celebrate your small victories along the way. Take time to acknowledge your progress and the milestones you have achieved. Celebrating your successes can help build your confidence and motivate you to keep going.

  4. Learn from Failure: Failure is a natural part of the entrepreneurial journey. Instead of dwelling on your failures, use them as an opportunity to learn and grow. Analyze your mistakes and figure out what you can do differently next time.

Overcoming Self-Doubt

Self-doubt is one of the biggest obstacles to success for many mompreneurs. It can be difficult to overcome, but it is essential if you want to achieve your goals. Here are some ways to overcome self-doubt as a Mompreneur:

  1. Identify Your Triggers: Identify the situations or people that trigger your self-doubt. Once you are aware of your triggers, you can take steps to avoid or manage them.

  2. Challenge Your Negative Thoughts: When you start to doubt yourself, challenge your negative thoughts. Ask yourself if your doubts are based on facts or assumptions. Often, we create negative scenarios in our minds that are not based on reality.

  3. Focus on Your Strengths: Instead of focusing on your weaknesses, focus on your strengths. What are you good at? What unique skills and talents do you bring to the table? Remember, you are not perfect, but you have a lot to offer.

  4. Take Action: Taking action is one of the best ways to overcome self-doubt. When you take action, you prove to yourself that you are capable and competent. Start small and build momentum as you go.

In conclusion, being a Mompreneur requires a strong mindset, confidence, and the ability to overcome self-doubt. By cultivating the Mompreneur Mindset, you can achieve success and balance motherhood and entrepreneurship. Remember to believe in yourself, surround yourself with positive people, celebrate small wins, learn from failure, identify your triggers, challenge your negative thoughts, focus on your strengths, and take action. With these tools, you can overcome any obstacle and achieve your goals.
